Golau Caredig – Painting Tiles Session

Last week at Golau Caredig, our group swapped quiz questions for creativity as we picked up paintbrushes! Residents and community members joined us to paint colourful flowers onto ceramic tiles, using step-by-step guides for inspiration as well as their own imagination.

Six participants took part, and the session highlighted the power of occupational therapy in action: improving focus, coordination, confidence, and—most importantly—bringing joy. One particularly special moment was seeing a resident who is usually very quiet come alive through painting. She proudly shared her finished tiles with others, a beautiful reminder that creative activity can unlock expression and connection in surprising ways.

We also welcomed a new member to the group, who was quickly made to feel at home. Next time, the group has chosen to try out musical bingo—something we’re all looking forward to!

Our sessions at Golau Caredig are about much more than activities—they’re about enabling independence, boosting wellbeing, and creating moments of achievement for everyone.
