At Fairwater Day Centre, we combined creativity with calm in our most recent group. Eight participants came together for a relaxed morning, starting with singing three songs and then painting clay pots made in a previous session.
The focus and determination in the group were inspiring. One lady, for example, needed some gentle prompting to get started and to guide her brush onto the pot, but with encouragement she painted her entire pot beautifully and felt proud of her work. Another gentleman initially said he couldn’t see well enough to take part, but with support he too painted his pot successfully.
These sessions aren’t just about making something nice to take home—they’re about building confidence, encouraging participation, and promoting independence through occupation.
Even staff joined in, showing how creative activity can bring everyone together.
