Yesterday, we had a fantastic time at our group session at Llanrumney Hub in Cardiff!

We kicked things off with a fun “Getting to Know You” ball game – a great icebreaker where we threw a ball covered in different questions between us. Each catch brought a new question to answer, sparking conversation and helping us find common ground. This activity supported social connection, memory recall, and communication skills – all important elements of occupational therapy when supporting well-being and maintaining cognitive engagement.

Next, we moved on to something a little more hands-on: a collaborative flower garden collage! Using large sheets of paper and watercolour paints, each person had five minutes to paint their section before passing it along for someone else to add their own touch. By the end, we had a beautiful shared garden full of colour and personality 🌸🎨

This group art project was more than just fun – it promoted creativity, turn-taking, and fine motor skills, while encouraging teamwork and self-expression. The time limit added an exciting challenge, supporting attention, planning, and adaptability – all key areas we target through occupational therapy.

We left the session feeling inspired, connected, and proud of what we created together. Thank you to everyone who came and brought such joy to the room
