At Minton Court, we celebrated the season with a creative and hands-on session making Easter baskets—but with a fun twist!

Using paper plates as a base, participants wove strips of colourful paper through them, creating a basket-like design. Once the weaving was complete, the baskets were brought to life with decorations like leaves, sequins, and mixed craft materials. The result? Unique and joyful Easter baskets full of personality!

Occupational Therapy Benefits

🧵 Fine Motor Skills & Coordination – Weaving paper strips helped maintain dexterity and hand-eye coordination, vital for everyday independence.

🎨 Creativity & Self-Expression – Each basket became a reflection of its maker, supporting self-identity and pride in personal creation.

🧠 Cognitive Engagement – The weaving process supported sequencing, attention, and problem-solving—great mental exercise in a fun, relaxed way.

🍃 Sensory & Tactile Input – Working with different textures (paper, sequins, leaves) provided gentle sensory stimulation.

💬 Social Interaction – The session sparked conversation, encouragement, and laughter, promoting connection and emotional wellbeing.

Simple materials, meaningful activity—proof that small crafts can carry big therapeutic value.
