On Monday, we were invited to St David’s Hospital in Cardiff to run an activity in the hospital foyer, helping to showcase what we do in the community.
The aim of the session was twofold: to give patients an opportunity to try something different during their hospital stay, and to highlight the types of activities and community services available once they leave hospital.
We ran a clay workshop that was open to patients, families, and visitors. The response was fantastic, everyone who joined in engaged really well, and the atmosphere was full of conversation and creativity. Even the ward managers were pleased to see patients who are usually bedbound getting involved in the activity, which was wonderful to witness.
The workshop gave people some structure and enjoyment in their day, as well as a chance to connect with others in a relaxed setting. It was a great reminder of how small, creative activities can make a big difference, both in hospital and in the community.
