We were delighted to launch our first ever group session at Golau Caredig last week, where we welcomed three wonderful participants for an hour of laughter, conversation, and shared activity.

The group started with a “Famous Faces” quiz to get minds ticking and conversations flowing. We then moved into a round of Bird Bingo, which was a big hit. Participants showed fantastic bird knowledge, and offered warm support and encouragement to others. The group dynamic was kind, chatty, and inclusive — a beautiful example of how shared activities can build meaningful social connections.

From an occupational therapy point of view, this session delivered multiple wellbeing benefits, including:

  • 🧠 Cognitive engagement through memory and recognition-based games

  • 🤝 Social inclusion, helping to reduce isolation and encourage companionship

  • 🌱 Role fulfilment, as participants naturally supported and encouraged one another

  • 🗣️ Confidence and communication, with opportunities for everyone to be heard and valued

The feedback was lovely — and Bird Bingo was so well received, we’re bringing Animal Bingo next time! 🐾

We’re excited to grow this group into something really special. 💙
