This week has been an inspiring reminder of why we love what we do at CwmpasOT — supporting wellbeing, connection, and purpose through meaningful activity.

We started the week by attending Yoga and Sensory Integration Training, expanding our skills to better understand how sensory processing impacts participation and wellbeing. As Occupational Therapists, this knowledge helps us adapt activities to meet individual sensory needs — ensuring every person can engage comfortably and confidently.

On Tuesday, we joined residents at Youldon House for a seated dance session led by Rubicon Dance. Movement, rhythm, and music combined to lift spirits and promote joint mobility, balance, and self-expression. Everyone joined in with smiles and laughter — and we’re already looking forward to welcoming Rubicon back for future sessions!

Wednesday brought another vibrant day at Age Connects Café, where we ran a seated physical exercise and mindfulness group. Gentle exercises helped to strengthen muscles, improve coordination, and enhance confidence in movement. We closed the session with grounding mindfulness, using all five senses to reconnect with the present moment — promoting calm, focus, and emotional regulation.

Later in the week, we had a lively session at Rondell House, featuring hoopla, JABADAO movement, beanbag toss, and a relaxation activity. These sessions aren’t just fun and social — they’re carefully designed to support balance, coordination, memory, and emotional wellbeing. Through playful movement, we encourage participants to rediscover joy in activity and connect with others in meaningful ways.

Beyond our group sessions, we also spent time out in Barry town, chatting with local residents about what to name our new dementia-friendly service. We believe it’s vital that our projects reflect the voices of the community — after all, these spaces are built with and for the people we serve.

At CwmpasOT, our groups are more than just activities — they’re therapeutic spaces where individuals can move, create, and connect. Each session is underpinned by occupational therapy principles, ensuring that every movement, conversation, and laugh contributes to functional wellbeing, confidence, and quality of life.

We’re proud to be part of such a supportive and creative community — and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next.
